Is Your Congregation Interested in Sponsoring a Refugee Family? If so, Please Read This Article!

Refugee campNews reports depict the plight of refugees.  With most of the attention of these reports on Syrian refugees, what is often forgotten is that a growing worldwide crisis of refugee growth is nothing new.  By the end of 2014, 59.5 million individuals were forcibly displaced worldwide as a result of persecution, conflict, and other human rights violations. Many of the displaced individuals are fellow Christians who are being persecuted for their faith and they have been living in impoverished refugee camps awaiting sponsorship for years!  The numbers of refugees and displaced people are overwhelming, but can you imagine the difference we can make in the lives of refugees if congregations in our ABC District each sponsored a refugee family?!  To learn more about how your congregation might sponsor a refugee, you are encouraged to contact the Canadian Lutheran World Relief western regional office in Vancouver.  In fact, the Vancouver office (CLWR’s Western Regional Office, 80 East 10th Avenue, New Westminster, BC) is holding an open house with an information session on private refugee sponsorship: Tuesday, October 27, 10 a.m.-noon

The contact information for the CLWR western regional office is: 604-540-9760 or toll-free (1-888-588-6686).  The email address is:
